MetaCups Reuseable K-Cup Coffee Filter
Your Most Frequently Asked Questions Answered
Q: Can I use Espresso grind in the MetaCups Reusable K-Cup Coffee Filter?
A: No, the Espresso grind is too fine for this type of filter.
Q: Is the MetaCups Reusable K Cup Coffee Filter dishwasher safe?
A: Yes, you can wash the MetaCups coffee filter in the top rack of any dishwasher
Q: What is the best way to clean the MetaCups refillable K-Cup coffee filter?
A: While the grinds in the coffee filter are still warm, with the lid closed, turn the coffee filter upside down and tap it firmly on your kitchen counter twice to loosen the contents. Next, over a garbage receptacle, open the coffee filter lid and tap the side of the filter. Most of the coffee grind contents will fall out. The remaining grinds can be rinsed out under a running faucet.
Q: Why is their sludge or sediment in my coffee cup?
A: Brewing coffee through a screened filter always results in some sediment at the bottom of a cup, no matter how fine the filter. As with any new device, you must find the right "setting for you." In this case, the proper grind number. Keep in mind coarser grinds equal weaker, more expensive coffee. Finer grinds are stronger but may create more sediment dependant on the particular filter. Try different settings between 7-9 until you find the taste you are looking for.
Q: Why is my k-cup coffee filter not closing?
A: You may be overfilling the kcup coffee filter. Be sure not to overfill the cup. It can be helpful to spoon some of the coffee grinds away from the middle to leave room for the downspout when closing the lid. Be sure to refer to our K-Cup closing tips page for more details.
Q: Why won't my brewer handle close with the MetaCups Reusable K Cup Coffee Filter inserted?
A: Be sure to place the MetaCups Reusable K Cup Coffee Filter precisely where you normally place a K-cup. There are grooves in the bottom of the MetaCups reusable K-Cups that sit over the pin(s) in your Keurig brewer. Slowly turn the MetaCups coffee filter til the grooves are over the pins. This happens when the arrows on the lid are lined up at 9 and 3 O'clock. Once the MetaCups reusable K-Cups are seated properly it is safe to close the handle gently on your Keurig® brewer. If you have a significant amount of resistance, do not force the handle as you can damage your Keurig brewer.
Q: How durable is the hinge of the MetaCups Reusable K Cup Coffee Filter?
A: The hinge is designed to open and close thousands of times.
Q: My coffee is brewing weaker than expected, is there anything I can do?
- Be sure you are filling the K-cup coffee filter with enough coffee, to the top of the basket as needed.
- You can reduce the amount of water you are using to brew your cup of coffee. For example, from 10oz to 8oz.
- Review how coarsely you are grinding your coffee. You may be grinding your coffee too coarsely and want to try a slightly finer setting.
- Review how often you are cleaning your filter. It may require more frequent washings to ensure proper water flow.
Q: I am seeing coffee grinds in my coffee, is this normal.
A: While some sediment is normal, you should not be seeing grinds in your coffee. This will only occur if there is a break in the filter or the lid is not closed properly, thus the pressure of the water being pumped into the coffee filter is flushing the grinds out. Be sure your filter is in proper condition and your lid is always closed tight creating a good seal before using.
